Diarrhea in horses
Diarrhea may be of bacterial origin, viral, parasitic or even linked to stress in the foal.
You have to call the vet quickly because an untreated diarrhea can be fatal to horses due to dehydration it causes.
The veterinarian will administer an intestinal dressing (coal) and infuse the horse to rehydrate if necessary. It will also attempt to determine the cause of diarrhea in order to refine the treatment (antibiotic…).
Among the foal, perhaps it will consider changing the mother's diet, remove the milk in the case of lactose intolerance, turn on the infrared lamp to warm…
